Local Tampa Police Community Conversations
Young Woman Dies After Her Car Hits Home
Chief Eric Ward and mem- bers of the Tampa Police De- partment planned a series of Community Conversations for the month of August. Two of the events have taken place. The third meeting was planned for Thursday, Sep- tember 1st, in Uniform District
Two, at the Springhill Park Community Center, 1000 E. Eskimo Avenue.
However, due to forecast of inclement weather, the meet- ing will take place on Thurs- day, September 8th. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.
A 22-year-old Hernando County woman died Thursday morning after her vehicle struck a tree and a house. The accident took place at the in- tersection of Harrow Road, north of Elk Lane.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ms. Kristen Dawkins, 22, of Spring Hill, was the only person in the 2008 Nissan Altima involved in the accident.
She was traveling south- bound on Harrow Road, north of the intersection of Norbert Street when she failed to stop at a stop sign. After crossing into the intersection, the un- dercarriage of the vehicle col- lided with the roadway.
Woman Involved In Hit And Run Accident Identified

Last week, a woman was ad- mitted to a hospital in critical condition after being struck by a hit and run driver. The acci- dent took place last Tuesday night at 28th Street North and 41st Avenue North, in Pinellas County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident was reported at 11:25 p.m. In- vestigators learned that Ms. Catherine Scott Strazdins, 35, of St. Petersburg, was
walking in the intersection when she was struck by a vehi- cle.
After the accident, the unidentified driver fled the scene. The vehicle became airborne, rotated, and entered private property at 3205 Harrow Road, where it struck a palm tree. The vehicle continued
onto the property at 3197 Har- row Road, where it struck the home.
Ms. Dawkins died at the scene, police said.
County Offices Closed For Labor Day
Man On Motorized Scooter Killed In Accident
Most Hillsborough County offices and facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 5, in ob- servance of Labor Day.
Closed facilities include the administrative offices of County government, all li- braries, recreation centers,
Head Start/Early Head Start centers, all service centers, senior centers, and nutrition sites.
There will be no solid waste collection (including garbage, recyclables, and yard waste) in the unincorporated Hillsbor-
ough County Service Area, which also includes Tampa Palms, Hunter’s Green, and New Tampa. For customers whose collection day falls on Monday, normal service will resume on the next scheduled day for pickup of those items.
A 79-year-old man died at a local hospital after being struck by a vehicle. The acci- dent took place shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Neville Gib- bings, of New Port Richey, was at the intersection of Mas- sachusetts Avenue and Peggy Mac Lane, in Pasco County when the accident occurred.
Gibbings was on his mo-
torized mobility scooter, when he reportedly traveled into the path of a 2007 Volkswagen Tourareg, driven by Joseph Frost, 31, also of New Port Richey.
Gibbings was transported to Northbay Hospital, where he later died as a result of the injuries he received in the ac- cident, police said.
The investigation is continu- ing and charges are pending.
King High All-Class Reunion

Blake Class Of 1967

Pedestrian Killed In Traffic Accident
A 57-year-old St. Petersburg resident died after being in- volved in a traffic accident Tuesday night. The accident occurred at the intersection of Roosevelt Blvd., and 60th Street, North, in Pinellas County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Domingue Rashan Brown, 31, of Largo, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala eastbound in the cen-
ter lane of Roosevelt Blvd. Ted Allen Brown was crossing Roosevelt Blvd, east of 60th Street, when he traveled into the path of the vehicle Brown was driving.
Ted Brown, who died at the scene, was not in a cross- walk at the time of the acci- dent.
Officials said no charges are expected to be filed against Domingue Brown.
Man Dies In Single Car Accident
A 54-year-old Homosassa resident died after losing con- trol of his vehicle and striking a building last Thursday. The accident occurred at 8716 W. Halls River Road, in Citrus County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place shortly before 9:30
a.m. Gerald Robert Seag- reaves, 54, was driving a 2005 Mercury Sable, when he suffered a medical emergency and lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle traveled forward and struck the Antiques Build- ing at the location. Seag- reaves was transported to the Seven Rivers Hospital, where he died.
