Gospel Star Travis Greene To Perform In Tampa Saturday
BY KENYA WOODARD Sentinel Feature Writer
If you’re going to a concert of gospel artist Travis Greene, be pre- pared to be amazed.
Of all the talents Greene possess – preaching, teaching, songwriting, producing – performing live is his fa- vorite.
“It’s something about a live audi- ence that’s an adrenaline rush,” he said in a phone interview last month while taking a break from his Caribbean tour that included stops in Jamaica, Antigua, and Barbados. “I feel like a totally different person. That’s where I come alive.”
On Saturday, fans of Greene can witness his live show – and sing along to hits “Intentional”, “You Made a Way”, and “You Waited,” – at the Straz’s Ferguson Hall.
It’s the last stop on his American tour before he takes his high-energy performances overseas to the United Kingdom and then Africa.
No matter the venue, one thing is certain about a Travis Greene show: expect to see people of all races, ages, and backgrounds.
“Our concerts are very diverse,” he

dreds of salvations, people just giving their hearts to him,” he said. “That’s been intentional. We’re trying to reach the lost.”
Capturing the lost and “over- churched” is what led Greene and his wife, Jackie – a dentist who also is a pastor – to found in 2016 For- ward City Church in Columbia, S. C.
The church, of course, isn’t just a physical building; heeding the call to be a fisher of men, Greene said he carries the spirit of the church with him wherever he goes.
Regarding his music, Greene said his songs are “literally prayers.”
“He’s forced me to lived out what I sing and what I preach,” he said. “The Lord ministers to me first and then I’m able to minister to others.”
After completing his world tour, Greene said he will put the finishing touches on a new untitled EP. Among the selections is a song “Love Will Al- ways Win” that speaks to the turmoil taking place all over the world.
For the discouraged, Greene said he offers this advice:
“Don’t look around – look up,” he said. “He is the answer. That’s the an- swer to everything. At the end of the day, He is the only constant one.”
said. “You see people of all ages from front to back.”
Greene is fresh off a four-way win at the 2018 Stellar Awards, where he picked up Male Vocalist of the Year, Contemporary Male Vocalist of the Year, Producer of the Year, and the highly-coveted Artist of the Year statues all stemming from his latest
release, Crossover Live in Music City. All well-deserved honors, indeed. But Greene is quick to pivot to the purpose of everything he does: win
souls for Christ.
This is especially true at the con-
certs, where the worship can range from lively to intense.
