The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reports that two teenagers, believed to be in- volved in the burglary of a home at 65 Harbor Oaks Circle last Wednesday, have been arrested.
Deputies said a family mem- ber of one of the teenagers rec- ognized the clothing worn by one of the suspects from news coverage of the incident. The teenage suspect was later turned into authorities by a family member.
Detectives were also able to identify the other two suspects in the case.
Anthony Pogue, 14, and Fred Lee, 17, were charged with burglary of an unoccupied residence. The third suspect has been identified by detectives and charges are pending.
Items stolen during the bur- glary were ladies jewelry and men’s watches, valued at $2,200.
KATHLEEN STEELE 62-year-old mother of three small children
The 62-year-old mother of an infant killed last week has been released from jail to a mental health facility. She was arrested last Thursday and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child.
Last Monday, Pinellas County deputies responded to a call in reference to a 13-day-old infant who was not breathing. The child was transported to a local hospital, where the infant who was identified as Kathleen Bridget Steele, was pro- nounced dead.
During the investigation, po- lice interviewed her mother, identified as Ms. Kathleen Marie Steele. Ms. Steele told police she had been out running errands and realized the infant was unresponsive when she returned home.
However, detectives learned the infant sustained severe head injuries that included bruising and several skull frac- tures.
Police also determined that the infant was injured while left in the car alone with her 6- year-old and 3-year-old broth- ers.
Officials said Ms. Steele had stopped at a cell phone re- pair shop, left all three children in the car, rolled up the win- dows, and turned off the vehi- cle.
The infant’s 6-year-old brother allegedly admitted to hurting his sister and described it to police. He reportedly told police that he removed her from the car seat “slammed her head onto the ceiling, banged her head on the floor and dropped her numerous times.”
Ms. Steele was placed under a $100,000 bond. She was also court-ordered to wear a GPS tracking device and is not allowed to be around any children under the age of 18 without court authorization.
The boys were placed in sep- arate therapeutic foster care fa- cilities.
