Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pie sold at a rate of one pie per second at Walmart last holiday season after video by James Wright went viral.
The sweet success of Patti Labelle's sweet potato pies ex- clusively available at Walmart has led to a major expansion of her personal recipe-based prod- uct line.
In fact, the pies have been so successful that she and Wal- mart have recently announced the release of three new Pattie Labelle premium cobblers and a new apple pecan cake.
All of the cakes and pies are pre-baked, and just need to be heated up in an oven.
Well, the pies were always a big seller, but after one of her fans (James Wright) posted a viral YouTube video. The pies went on to start selling at local Walmart locations at a rate of one pie per second. That, of course, equals millions and mil- lions of pies sold.
In fact, not too long after that video went viral with more than 8 million views, Kerry Robin- son, vice president for bakery and deli at Wal-Mart, was quoted as saying, "We are work- ing very hard with our supplier to try and produce more prod- uct. We're in the process of se- curing another 2 million pounds of sweet potatoes."
The four new cakes and cob- blers will include:
#1 - Patti’s Good Life Peach Cobbler: Loaded with fresh peaches, this cobbler fea- tures a top crust covered in cin- namon, and is very aromatic and sweet.
#2 - Patti’s Good Life Berry Cobbler: Stuffed with raspberries, blackberries, blue- berries and boysenberries, this mixed-berry cobbler has just the right balance of sweet to tart, and the bottom crust is en- joyably crisp.
#3 - Patti’s Good Life Apple Cobbler: Made with Fuji apples, this cobbler has a nice filling with a nice balance mixture of cinnamon and sugar. The apples have retained a bit of their tartness, which is nice with the pastry crust.
#4 - Patti’s Good Life Apple Pecan Cake: Deco- rated with rich buttercream icing and rich caramel goo, this tasty cake is a southern-style layer cake of Fuji apples and Georgia pecans. It goes great with coffee or tea.
Grey’s Anatomy star, Jessie Williams doesn’t want educa- tion to be an unattainable fi- nancial luxury. The 35-year-old actor has joined forces with 24- year-old Scholly App creator Christopher Gray, to help students access millions in scholarship money.
As a former teacher, Williams noted his first-hand experience with students who were “unable to even swift their true potential to even sniff their true potential because they weren’t born into this web of resource that were necessary to really thrive in this
rigged system.”
Gray created Scholly after
earning receiving $1.3 million in scholarship money, of his own. In 2014 he appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank and received

In his acceptance speech,
Usher praised his first man- ager/mother, Jonetta Pat- ton. “I don’t just celebrate this moment by myself. I celebrate it with those people who in- vested in me, those people who loved me through my hard times,” Usher said.
“Mom, thank you for every- thing and all the people that you’ve actually helped to bring here. They wouldn’t be here if you didn’t recognize and make sure you selected the right people to be around and to help me be the man I am today and in this position.”
Usher’s other family in at- tendance included his grand- mother, aunt, sons Raymond V and Naviyd, and wife Grace Miguel.
