Sheriff’s Office Launches Cold Case Unit
The newly created Cold Case Unit will investigate many of the unsolved crimes in hopes of bringing closure to families.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has a new Cold Case Unit, dedi- cated to bringing answers to the families of victims, many of whom have been waiting years for closure.
HCSO’s Cold Case Unit is comprised of two Special In- vestigators with decades of law enforcement experi- ence.
There are about 240 cold cases in Hillsborough
County. The Special Investi- gators are looking over the cases, resubmitting evi- dence, re-interviewing wit- nesses and looking for small details that can help solve the cases.

said, “These investigators have storied careers and ex- perience solving cold cases. “They know every case can be solved and are working
diligently to find the key in- formation or evidence needed to bring answers to the victims' family and friends.”
