Hillsborough County gov- ernment has partnered with the Federal Emergency Man- agement Agency (FEMA) to open a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to help Florida storm survivors. The center will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
The Center was designed to help residents impacted by Hurricane Irma. Resi- dents can learn about pro- grams and services available to them. Appointments are not required.
More than a dozen agen- cies are providing resources at the center. Those re- sources include: FEMA, U. S. Small Business Administra- tion (SBA), Florida Depart- ment of Children and Families, Florida Depart- ment of Health, Hillsbor- ough County Aging Services, Hillsborough County Afford- able Housing Services, Hills- borough County Health Care Services, Hillsborough County Homeless Services, Hillsborough County Social Services, the American Red Cross, Career Source Tampa Bay, Central Florida Behav- ioral Health Network, and Senior Connection from Area Agency on Aging.
The type of assistance provided is determined on a case-by-case basis. Disaster assistance may include

The U. S. Small Business Administration offers low- interest disaster loans for businesses of all sizes, home- owners, renters, and private non-profit organizations. The SBA disaster loans may be used to cover repairs.
To apply for assistance, residents can visit Hillsbor-
ough Community College, The Regent, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview, FL 33578.
Survivors may also visit https://www.fema.gov/dis- aster-recovery-centers or by calling FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. The informa- tion is also available on the FEMA Mobile App.
Individuals in need of as- sistance must complete the registration process and pro- vide information such as in- surance policies and bank information for possible di- rect transfer of funds. Resi-

FEMA Issues Warning
Disaster Recovery offi- cials urge recipients of Hur-
ricane Irma federal grants to read the letter they receive from FEMA on how to use the assistance and spend the money wisely.
FEMA does not pay for the deductible in homeown- ers’ insurance policies and the grant cannot be a dupli- cate payment from other sources.
The funds are for repairs, temporary housing, and es- sential personal property. For questions visit the Disas- ter Recovery Center or call the FEMA Helpline.
