Police Indentify Shooter In Death Investigation
Woman Spends Over $10,000 Of Stolen Money For Plastic Surgery
NYAIRA THOMAS
... Being sought by police
The Lakeland Police De- partment is currently looking for a 20-year-old forgery sus- pect.
The woman is said to have spent more than $10,000 on plastic surgery.
According to the Lakeland Police Department, Ms. Nyaira Ronnie Thomas, of Lake Wales is currently wanted on charges of crimi- nal use of personal ID, for- gery, and grand theft. They are asking anyone who knows her whereabouts to contact them.
Police began a criminal in- vestigation on March 2nd after receiving a forgery re- port.
The victim identified only as K.C., told police that someone had used her iden- tity and personal information to obtain services at two se- parate clinics in Lakeland on two separate occasions.
Detectives learned that sev- eral credit applications had been opened in the victim’s name. In one of the cases, a woman went to the Care Credit at Watson Clinic as the victim and provided an Illi- nois identification with her picture on it.
On February 20th, the woman had breast implants, liposuction of her flanks and the fat from the flanks placed in her buttocks. The proce- dure costs $10,495.
She returned on February 27th, and had an injection in her lips. The cost of that pro- cedure was $530, police said.
Detectives were able to identify the suspect using a credit application report that listed a Lake Wales address, along with witnesses.
Judge Releases Mom
Accused Of Murder Citing
An elderly man who re- portedly killed one brother and injured another was hos- pitalized after the shooting. He called 9-1-1 and remained at the scene until police ar- rived.
According to the Hillsbo- rough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 1005 Lianne Place, in Seffner, around 10 p.m., last Wednes- day. When they arrived, they discovered that two brothers, William Edgar McCallis- ter, 51, and David Jack Mc- Callister, 43, of 10917 Don Creek Drive, had been shot. William McCallister died inside the residence. David McCallister received non- life threatening injuries, po- lice said.
Martin Alfred John- son, 76, is the owner of the property and has been identi- fied as the shooter. He was rushed to a local hospital after suffering an unrelated medical issue.
Police said just before 10 p.m., an incident took place

between the three men. At some point, Johnson pro- duced a weapon and shot the other two men.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office said once the investigation is complete, de- tectives will meet with the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office to deter- mine if any criminal charges will be filed against John- son.
Last week, a Tampa mother was released from jail after a judge agreed that she had been a victim of deceptive po- lice practices. She was also al- lowed to plead guilty to child neglect instead of murder.
The incident that landed
Ms. Quanyisha Thomp- son in jail facing a second- degree murder charge began October 1, 2013. Her cousin called police because her 1- year-old son, Joshua Wor- thy, was unresponsive. Fire Rescue responded to the Jackson Court Apartment where Ms. Thompson lived with her children.
The child was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that the child had suf- fered massive internal in- juries.
Ms. Thompson was inter- viewed by Tampa Police De- tective Mike Kirlangitis, who said she admitted to punching her son in the sto- mach. Ms. Thompson was arrested and charged with the child’s murder.
However, her defense at- torney, Dana Herce- Fulgueira, accused Detective Kirlangitis’s in- vestigative tactics amounted to “coercion, trickery, and de- ceptive police practices.” The attorney also said he sug- gested nearly every detail of the crime during the interro- gation.
Ms. Thompson had said the child had been ill since a visit with his biological father on September 28th. She did- n’t take him to the doctor be- cause she didn’t have insurance.
In the days after the child’s death, Detective Kirlangi- tis conducted 5 interviews with Ms. Thompson. Dur- ing the fifth and final inter- view, she allegedly admitted to punching the child in the

stomach and chest.
The detective is also ac-
cused of hinting that if she didn’t confess, she wouldn’t be able to see her other chil- dren. And, he told her not to discuss the case with anyone but him, which reportedly made Ms. Thompson think she could not talk to an attor- ney, a court motion stated.
She was arrested a month later and charged with the murder.
Gregory DeClue, a foren- sic psychologist, interviewed Ms. Thompson and deter- mined she has an IQ of 77. He also said she was more recep- tive of misleading questions than the average person.
Circuit Judge Samantha Ward agreed with Attorney Herce-Fulgueira.
Judge Ward wrote in her decision on March 14th, “Most offensive and trouble- some to this court, was show- ing the defendant autopsy photographs of her own child and re-enactment of what the baby might have done in re- sponse to ‘the punch.’”
Ms. Thompson, now 26- years-old, was released from the Hillsborough County Jail on March 21st. Her sentence was ruled time served. She spent 1,229 days in jail.
Roadway Prank Gets Man Tickets To Court
This photograph shows the man identified as Kiaron Thomas sitting in the middle of the road eating pancakes.
On April 25th, a Lakeland man will appear before a judge to explain what he calls a prank. A video of him eating pancakes in the roadway was taken and placed on Facebook last Tuesday.
At approximately 10:50 a.m., police received a call of a man sitting in a chair in the cross- walk. The man had a small TV table in front of him and ap- peared to be eating pancakes.
When police arrived at the in- tersection of Memorial Boule- vard and Brunnell Parkway, the man was gone. However, a video of the stunt appeared on Facebook.

cers continued the investiga- tion and learned on March 23rd that the man was Kiaron Thomas. Thomas lives about 100 yards south of where the incident took place.
Police interviewed Thomas who admitted to committing the incident and told them he did it as a prank. However, po- lice said Thomas’ actions pre- vented cars from moving and created an obstruction.
He was given a citation for placing an obstruction in the roadway and disrupting the free flow of traffic. He is slated to appear in court on April 25th, police said.
