Violence Claims Lives Of 48 People In City Of Tampa

JULY
On July 5th the victim was at E. 17th Street and N. 3rd Avenue, around 3:26 a.m. He was walk- ing to his car when he was shot and died as a result of his in- juries. Marquis Lezate Wal- ter, 28, was arrested and charged with committing the murder.
Detectives investigated two unrelated murders that took place within hours of each other.
Officers responded to the 3600 block of E. 29th Avenue in reference to a shooting. An adult male had been shot and died a short time later at the hospital. No arrests have been made.
Rashad D. Arnold, 33, died on July 7th, after being shot several times while seated in a car. The shooting took place around 11 a.m., in the 3200 block of N. 49th Street.
In the second shooting, offi- cers responded to the intersec- tion of E. 17th Street and N. 3rd Avenue, at 3:26 a.m. When offi- cers arrived, they learned that a man had been shot, and later died of his injuries.
A 33-year-old man was killed while seated in his vehi- cle. The shooting took place in the 3200 block of N. 49th Street, in Highland Pines. The case re- mains open.
Detectives are currently in- vestigating a shooting incident that left one person dead and another injured in the 9400 block of N. Brooks Street.

ber 27th, construction workers discovered the body of a woman in a house set for demolition in the 1800 block of E. Sligh Av- enue. She has been identified as Ms. Linda Harris. Her death remains unsolved.

On October 15th, Samaya Smith was shot in the leg while in the 3600 block of N. 22nd Street. She died from complica- tions of the injury three days later.

In October, police arrested: Andrew Thompson and Jaylin Bedward, both 22; James Denson, 24; Quan- darious Hammond, 28; and 39-year-old Zvante Sampson and charged with her murder.
Yanmarkoz Jimenez was arrested October 1st and charged with a murder that took place on August 29th. The 16-year-old was charged with manslaughter in connection with a shooting that took place in the 2600 block of Durham Street, shortly after 11 p.m. Jimenez said he was playing with a gun when he accidentally shot an 18-year-old girl.
SEPTEMBER

Detectives are investigating a shooting that has left Levi Jones, 54, and another unidentified man dead and one other man injured. The shoot- ing took place shortly near the intersection of E. Osborne Av- enue and N. 34th Street. Police believe the men became en- gaged in an altercation and ex- changed gunfire. The other two men were ages 39 and 41.
An unidentified man died after being stabbed during a fight in the 8200 block of E. Klondyke. No additional infor- mation was released about the case.
Three men were injured by gunfire while at the intersection of N. 15th Street and E. 113th Av- enue. A 27-year-old man died as a result of his injuries. The sec- ond victim was listed in serious condition and the third victim was listed in stable condition. The surviving victims were ages 19 and 20 years old.
Tampa Police arrested 17- year-old Aaron C. Campbell and charged him with first-de- gree murder in connection with a fatal shooting that took place the week before in the River Oaks Apartment Complex. He was accused of shooting a 19- year-old man several times, killing him.

A second man, 29-year-old Alfonso Evans, was arrested the night of the shooting, and faces a felony charge of shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Shortly after 11 p.m., on De- cember 6th, a 30-year-old Tampa man was shot while in the 2300 block of N. Nebraska Avenue. He died as a result of his in- juries.
A shooting left a 24-year-old man dead. The shooting took place near the intersecti9on of E. Chelsea Avenue and N. En- glewood Street. Police said the two men involved in the alterca- tion knew each other and they are not looking for any addi- tional suspects. No arrests have been made and the investiga- tion is continuing.
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is investigating a fatal shooting that took place near the intersection of N. 52nd Street and E. 30th Avenue, in the Grant Park area. The 18-year-old vic- tim did not survive. No addi- tional information has been released and the investigation is continuing.
Ian D. Thomas, 16, was fatally injured while in the Takomah Trail Park, 10099. Po- lice also said a second person, the 32-year-old victim of a rob- bery that took place in the park, was also injured by gunfire. He survived the shooting. Detec- tives said that a group of indi- viduals, including Thomas, are alleged to have shot and robbed the victim.
The fatal stabbing of a 15- year-old teenager took place in the area of N. Packwood and W. Sligh Avenue. The 15-year-old and another individual became engaged in an altercation. At some point, the victim was stabbed. The case remains open.

On Tuesday afternoon, po- lice responded to the 7800 block of N. 22nd Street to con- duct a death investigation. No arrest has been made and no additional information about the victim was released.
Fishermen discovered body parts floating in McKay Bay. The body was identified as Ms. Stephanie Crone-Overholts 47, of Pennsylvania. Robert Kessler, 69, was arrested and charged with murder.
TyQuahn Rashard Johnson, 13, was shot two days before Thanksgiving while at the corner of N. 22nd Street and E. 26th Avenue in the park- ing lot of the Lee Davis Service Center. He died three days later.
Police arrested 16-year-old JaMarion Strange was ar- rested and charged with first- degree murder.
DECEMBER
Ms. Savannah Mathis, a 21-year-old nursing student, and her sister, were both in- jured by gunfire on December 1st. Ms. Mathis died two days later. Her sister survived.
