Joe Walsh Announces Republican Primary Challenge Against Trump
The Obamas Just Revealed Their Summer 2019 Playlist, And It Doesn’t Disappoint
BARACK OBAMA AND MICHELLE OBAMA
Conservative firebrand former Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh announced Sunday with ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week" that he's launching a long-shot Republican presidential pri- mary challenge against President Donald Trump.
"I'm going to run for pres- ident," Walsh told Stephanopoulos in an ex- clusive interview.
When Stephanopoulos pointed out the massive up- hill climb Walsh has in front of him in the primary thanks to Trump's overwhelmingly

high approval rating within the party, the controversial former congressman argued
that conservatives should have an alternative to the president.
"I'm running because he's unfit; somebody needs to step up and there needs to be an alternative. The country is sick of this guy's tantrum -- he's a child," said Walsh, who was elected to the House in the 2010 Tea Party wave, but only served one term be- fore becoming a conservative talk radio host.
Trump campaign com- munications director Tim Murtaugh sent ABC News a dismissive one-word re- sponse to Walsh jumping into the race: "Whatever."
Former President Barack Obama revealed his and former first lady Michelle Obama’s 2019 summer playlist on Saturday.
“With summer winding down, here’s a sampling of what Michelle and I have been listening to — some new, some old, some fast, some slow,” the former pres- ident wrote on Twitter. “Hope you enjoy.”
“Too Good,” by Drake fea- turing Rihanna, tops the 44- song list, which includes both old and new hits.
AtNo.40onthelistisLil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Last month, the popular song broke the record for the longest-running streak at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Obamas also included songs that were released decades ago, such as Frank Sinatra’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and “54-46 Was My Number” by Toots and the Maytals.
Artists have already begun celebrating making the Oba- mas’ list. Lizzo ― whose song “Juice” made the No. 6 spot on the Obamas’ sum- mer playlist ― had tweeted about the former president shortly before he released his playlist, saying that she was first able to vote in a presi- dential election in 2008 and that she had voted for Obama.
“WE’RE FRIENDS NOW I DONT MAKE THE RULES!!!” she tweeted after the list of summer songs came out.
Trump Suggested Nuking Hurricanes To Stop Them From Hitting U. S.
President Trump has suggested multiple times to senior Homeland Security and national security officials that they explore using nu- clear bombs to stop hurri- canes from hitting the United States, according to sources who have heard the presi- dent's private remarks and been briefed on a National Security Council memoran- dum that recorded those comments.
During one hurricane briefing at the White House, Trump said, "I got it. I got it. Why don't we nuke them?" according to one source who was there. "They start form-
ing off the coast of Africa, as they're moving across the At- lantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can't we do that?" the source added, par- aphrasing the president's re- marks.
Asked how the briefer re- acted, the source recalled he said something to the effect of, "Sir, we'll look into that."
Trump replied by asking incredulously how many hur- ricanes the U. S. could han- dle and reiterating his suggestion that the govern- ment intervene before they make landfall.
The briefer "was knocked back on his heels," the source in the room added. "You could hear a gnat sneeze in that meeting. People were as- tonished. After the meeting ended, we thought, 'What the f---? What do we do with this?'"
Justice Dept. Under Fire For Allegedly Sending Staff Link To White Nationalist Site
Trump Administration Can't Say When First Section Of New Wall Will Be Built
The Justice Department is under fire for allegedly in- cluding a link to a white na- tionalist website in its daily news briefing emailed to im- migration court employees on Monday.
The memos have been sent to staffers each morning by the Executive Office of Im- migration Review, only this time, as first reported by BuzzFeed News, one in- cluded a link to VDare.com, which is described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an “anti-immigration hate website.”
In a letter obtained by HuffPost, Ashley Tabad- dor, president of the Na- tional Association of Immigration Judges, told DOJ on Thursday that the union had “received numer-
ous complaints from judges across the nation who found the blog post offensive” and felt it signified “a hostile work environment.”
“The post features links and content that directly at- tacks sitting immigration judges with racial and ethni- cally tinged slurs and the label ‘Kritarch,’” she said. The reference to Kritarch in a negative tone is deeply offen- sive and Anti-Semitic. As Tabaddor explains, the term, intended as a slur in this case, refers to kritarchy, a system of judicial rule that once existed in ancient Israel.
“VDare’s use of the term in a pejorative manner casts Jewish history in a negative light as an Anti-Semitic trope of Jews seeking power and control,” she added.
More than 2 1/2 years after President Trump took office with an ardent promise to build a wall along the southern border, his ad- ministration cannot tell us when it will add its 1st mile of new wall to a border area that doesn't have pre-existing barriers.
Why it matters: The wall has been Trump's most iconic and polarizing promise — one he was willing to de- clare a national emergency and shut down the govern- ment for weeks over.
So far in Trump's presi- dency, more than 60 miles of existing barriers and fences
have been replaced with new wall, according to a Depart- ment of Homeland Security official.
DHS has been referring to replacement wall as "new," but to date, not a single mile
of wall has been built where no barrier previously existed. The official did not provide an answer when asked when the first section of "new" wall would be built.
“The Department is com- mitted to confronting the hu- manitarian and security crisis at our border, stem- ming the flow of illegal and irregular migration, and pro- tecting our rule of law and the American people from traffickers, child smugglers, and transnational criminal organizations exploiting our system to profit from human misery and suffering,” the DHS official said.
