In an array of elegance, Mother Eliza- beth Wynn entered the room where over 150 people awaited an opportunity to celebrate her 100th birthday. One hundred years old, yet looking 20-25 years younger, she greeted her guests with a smile. She was surrounded by her children, grandchil- dren, dedicated family mem- bers, friends and host of church family members.
The Golden Eagles Sunday School Class, with Jeraldine Williams, Dea. Albert Bell, Dea. Frank Floyd, Julia Mae Butler, Marvin Youngblood and Chester White, planned the special event at the Riverview Com- munity Center.
With the “Exciting Gospel Warriors” provid- ing music, dinner was served with Julian Howell and Willie Michael Knight co- ordinating. The waiters were from the Men’s Ministry of First Baptist Church of Col- lege Hill. A host of others were on program. Fannie Keith served as the Mistress of Ceremonies and Janet Clark for the Hostess to the guests.
Mother Wynn is the widow of Fred Wynn, and the mother of Mary Chisholm and Wylene Gilyard. She is the loving grandmother of Nivia Bar-

Kathy Raulerson c r e d its Mother Wynn with taking her under her wings and “mothering” her into adulthood. Many friends and associates spoke of Mother Wynn as a pillar of the community.
Jeraldine Williams, one of the planners of the occa- sion wrote: “Because of her gratuitous life, virtuous char- acter, and love of God, in the early 21st Century, the
late Rev. Abraham Brown, then senior pastor of First Baptist Church of College Hill, bestowed upon her the honorary title of “Mother” of the church. She has been a member since 1932.
The impact she has on her biological children and her grandchildren was apparent in how, one after the other, they related stories of spiri- tual interactions that con- tributed to their successes in life. Throughout the evening, it was so apparent that she continues to give love to all and shares the Word of God every opportunity she en- counters.
Rev. Dr. Evan Bur- rows spoke about the love Mother Wynn has for her church. She has commit- ted her life to First Baptist Church of College Hill. Rev. Burrows recalled her pick- ing up friends (Julia Mae Butler and Margie Nick- erson) to bring them to church and only stopped driving in the past year. He also related his amazement at how the three ladies traveled the country with more zeal that young people.
Mother Wynn’s re- silience permeates her char- acter. She walks, talks and lives the life of a Christian. She contributes her love of God for her life.
