Vote: Because Your Life Depends On It
omeone asked me re-
cently why Reality On Ice has been so focused on the upcoming presidential election lately? I told him that it may have a little bit to do with the fact that, typically, the selection of a U. S. president is kind of a big deal.
Some may argue that this may be the most significant elec- tion for Black people ever. Do not get me wrong. Electing President Barack Obama in 2008 was huge for symbolic rea- sons. But, with the threat that Donald Trump presents to the Black community with his call for even more aggressive polic- ing in major cities (stop & frisk), his promise to appoint a super- conservative to the Supreme Court and his open support for gentrification, I don't think there's been another time in re- cent American history when the outcome of an election had the potential of causing more cata- strophic consequences for Blacks as a whole.
Of course, my Black Repub- lican friends would probably disagree and try to claim that voting Democratic wouldn't make our situation any better ei- ther. And, to a certain extent, they may be right. But, the thing
is, as opposed to a Trump pres- idency, I don't think it's a stretch to say that at least having Hillary Clinton in office wouldn't make things worse.
Besides, over the last 50 years, I can't recall one Republi- can president who actually had the best interests of Black peo- ple in mind during his tenure in the White House. Richard Nixon instituted the so-called "war on drugs," that was re- vealed last year to actually be a covert war on Blacks in the late sixties and early seventies.
Ronald Regan resurrected this racist agenda in the eighties. And I'm quite sure we're all well aware of how the George H. W. and George W. Bush ad- ministrations played out.
The truth is, since Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery (and that was strictly a political move), Blacks have never fared well under Republican leader- ship, state or federally.
So what puzzles me is how anyone can honestly believe that this time will be any different?
What I think people are missing when it comes to this election cycle is that this isn't just about Clinton or Trump as individuals. It is about the deeper long-term ramifications
that will transpire afterwards. There is no doubt that a Trump victory will signal to all politicians across the country that it's cool to pander to white, racist, extremists while caring less about the concerns of mi- norities. The blueprint to Trump's success will be, in- evitably, duplicated in every election going forward, with each bigoted Trump wanna-be attempting to out Trump the
originator.
This is the future we can ex-
pect if the spectacle of the "Ap- prentice" isn't stopped. A country run by over-the-top, loud-mouth, a--holes hell bent on turning America into the fic- tionalized version they remem- ber in television shows like Leave It To Beaver, The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days. You know, the America that never really ex- isted.
This is why it's so important, for those of us who can, to turn out to vote. I would love to sit here and tell you that your life isn't dependent upon whether you participate or not. But, un- fortunately, the way things are going, that's not the case.
On November 8th, make sure that you exercise your right to vote because, if you don't, and the results aren't in your favor, the only person you'll be able to blame is yourself for not doing everything that you could have to make a difference.

Myth Of The Undecideds
y now you know what side we’re on. She laughs like
Data, the android in Star Trek: The Next Generation; when it comes to telling jokes, she’s no Barack Obama, and when it comes to melting hearts, she’s no First Lady Michelle. But like the subject of a favorite commercial, “She takes a licking and keeps on ticking.” So, we support Hillary Clinton with all the heart, voice, and printing ink at our service.
And along with Hillary Clinton, we cast our vote for Kathy Castor, Darryl Rouson, Shawn Harrison, Mark Ober, Pat Frank, Gary Dolgin, “Fighting” Joe Jordon Robinson, Cathy James, Orlando Gudes, Frank Chillura, and all of the Consti- tutional Amendments on line except Amendment No. 1 (be- cause of the double-talk that makes it a corporate double-cross).
So, you can say the Sentinel for a matter of weeks, has been unabashedly “transparent” about what is probably one of the most important elections in the past century. .
But there is a group who has not been honest, by a long- shot. In the disguise of caution and patience, this group has patently refused to make up its mind (which is its right) as to who next may lead our nation.
And with three words, “I DON’T KNOW,” this bunch of hooligans has all-but brought a halt to our nation’s Demo- cratic electoral process.
First of all, we have had more than a year to make up our minds; the media has drowned us in minutia, so, claiming not to know means our society of mass information has fi- nally choked on its own vomit . . . either that or someone is lying. We choose the latter. Meanwhile, until the last poll is closed, we shall continue to ignore the fear that facts no longer matter to American voters.
Until the last minute of elections, we will trust that some- one where you are will listen. For, there is one thing we are decided about, and that is, BEING UNDECIDED IS NOT ONLY A MYTH, IT IS A LIE.
One More Day
mpowered Greet-
ings. It is now a new month. Spiritually speaking No- vember is said to be a month of rest. If you’ve been trying to work it out by yourself, for your- self all year, I want to implore you to turn it over to Jesus and let Him give you rest. He will work it out!
Listen, I’m not saying give up, but I am saying give it over. The things that you’ve been toil- ing over month after month can be rectified in one more day.
There’s a story of a man named Joseph that was sent to prison for something he did not do. Others around him were set free. I am sure it left him won- dering when his time was going to come or even if his time was going to come.
Instead of him getting mad, bitter and disillusioned about his fate, he held on one more day until his release came. I’m not sure who this column is for, but hear me when I say, don’t you faint! Stand strong ONE
MORE DAY! Your release is coming.
There are blessing that have been spoken over your life that may seem like they are never going to come to pass. Again I say hold on one more day. One more day just might be the day when leap from your place of wandering in the wilderness to be propelled to your place of promise and promotion.
The Bible says that Caleb was 40 years old when he spied out the promise land. However, it wasn’t until he was 85 years old before he was able to possess it. I’m not sure how long you’ve been waiting, but I am sure that in spite of the delays that doesn’t mean you are being denied. God is yet working on you and on your behalf to get you posi- tioned for the promise.
Wolf-Ticket Emails
here is a term, “wolf ticket” that you may not be famil-
iar with. Simply put, it means a lie wrapped up to look like truth. One of our editorial writers won a bet she made in early spring that within two weeks of voting day, there would be an unexpected scandal about presidential candidate Hillary Clinton that would seem she would not have time to disprove.
Well, lo and behold, Hillary found herself enmeshed in an- other email scandal eleven days before voting day, and they are not even her emails.
No one knows if there is classified information in the emails because they are emails sent by her aide Huma Abe- din, from a laptop computer she used jointly with former Representative Anthony Weiner, her ex-husband.
After not finding properly labeled classified information on Clinton’s email server, they are now checking to see if Clinton’s aide sent her any classified material. For goodness’
sake, give us a break! After casting suspicion on Abedin’s emails to Clinton, the FBI has failed to produce any preliminary evidence that remotely connects Hillary to any classified emails sent by Abedin.
Indeed, one FBI official was overheard to say, “There is no indication that Clinton, her campaign or the State Department withheld information about the contents on Weiner’s lap- top.”
Furthermore, it seems the timing of FBI Director’s James Comey’s letter to Congress about Abedin’s emails is suspicious because no one even knows what is in the emails. As part of the “say it and they will believe it, even if it isn’t true, Trump strategy,” bringing questionable at- tention to Abedin’s emails to Clinton without having read them sounds like somebody is sell- ing “wolf-tickets.”
Therefore, we urge our readers and voters to remember that Hillary hasn’t been found guilty of anything illegal. She is innocent until proven guilty.
