HCC Board Of Trustees Has New Chair
12th Annual Back 2 School Bash Planned
The Hillsborough Com- munity College (HCC) District Board of Trustees (DBOT) elected a new chair and vice chair for the 2017-18 aca- demic year at its June 28 board meeting held at the Dr. Gwendolyn W. Stephenson District Administration Cen- ter.
Trustee Dipa Shah was elected to serve as the chair, succeeding Brig. Gen. Chip Diehl, Ret., and Trustee Steve Cona, III was elected to serve as vice chair, a post previously held by Trustee Dipa Shah.
“I would like to congratu- late Trustee Dipa Shah on becoming the chair of the HCC District Board of Trustees,” stated Dr. Ken Atwater, president of Hills- borough Community College. “Trustee Shah has shown both exemplary leadership and dedication to HCC during her tenure on the board, and I look forward to working with her in this new capacity dur- ing the upcoming 2017-18 academic year.”
Additionally, the DBOT
liaison on the HCC Founda- tion Board of Directors, and Trustee Betty Viamontes will serve as a labor liaison for HCC.
Hillsborough Community College serves over 45,000 students annually at its five campuses located throughout Tampa Bay. The college is ac- credited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

On Saturday, July 29th, members of the NFL YET Center, 3310 E. Lake Avenue, will host their 12th Annual Back 2 School Bash. The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Those in attendance will enjoy an afternoon of music, food, entertainment, games, free health screenings, and prizes. The children will re- ceive free backpacks, free hair- cuts, and school supplies while they last. All children must be accompanied by a parent.
Ms. Dianne Hart, Advi- sory Chairperson for the NFL YET Center said, “We are going to have music by DJ Boucher, a guest appearance by Queen B, of 95.7 The Beat, and members of the Tampa Rough Riders Motorcycle Organization will be on hand.
There will also be raffles, bounce houses, performances by local talent, and other forms of entertainment. Local vendors will also have booths set up in the gym.
“The Rough Riders will hold 10-minute sessions with the boys called “Speak From The Heart.” During these sessions, the boys will have an opportunity to talk about things going on in the community that affects them.
“This is our 12th Annual event and we want everyone to come out and have a good time. “
