Manufacturing Services
• 2024 continued in the same vein as 2023 with little additional equipment
added due to the drive to improve overall machine utilization. A New
Ultrasonic cleaner was added to improve capacity in mould cleaning and
maintenance to drive tool reliability and up-time.
• Additional drying capacity was added to facilitate the switch over to PC/
ABS on some products thus providing a cost saving of circa 15-20% across
some products.
• The Plastic stores was moved into bay 57 to facilitate the introduction of
some new 2 shot moulding technology which is planned for installation in
2025 as a result of project Reset. This is a new technology to Ei and will
require a high level of work by the design engineers and mould processing
experts to deliver the product to the very high Ei standards required.
• In 2024 we completed the upgrade works to
the HR, NPI and QA offices as well as adding
a new Café, Training Room and Conferences
room. Upgrades includes full rewiring of all
electrical and data points, installation of new
Air-conditioning and Fresh Air Units, new
offices and a full insulation and resealing of the
roof, improving the overall building fabric and
sustainability.
• Project Reset drove all new
developments in Auto insertion
in 2024. The Quick5 ICT machine
was moved inline on Line 12 for
volume ICT trials on the Ei3016.
We are currently achieving yields
in the 99.2%. Our target yield on
the new 4000 Series will be in the
99.8-99.9% range.
• Project Reset also saw the
development of specialized
nozzles to multiple trials to
optimize and manage the highly
accurate placement of the new
SMT Photo diodes and LED’s for
the new Ei4000 Series.
The following new tools were introduced:
1. Ei6500-OMS tool for capacity ramp up – 7 tools in total.
2. New Deaf Alarm tool- 3 tools.
3. New Ei168RF base and wiring cover.
A new automatic inspection camera and software was added to the mould
and laser print cell to allow us to 100% inspect the laser marking text.
This work was completed by John Alford in conjunction with Keyence.

• Also, in 2024 we started our program of
refurbishment of building #1 (bays 40-46).
The first phase of this program was the strip
out and demolition of bays 40-41. Phase 2
involved the refurbishment of bays 42-43.
This program was extensive and involved
a full strip out, replacing the existing roof
with a new 120mm insulated roof which
required additional steel structures in place.
A full electrical and mechanical replacement
of all services, new Air-conditioning and
Air Handling units Triple glazed windows,
a new floor surface, new toilets, supervisors’
offices and QA room. Phase 3 of this program
covering bays 44-46 will commence in 2026.
