New Product Development
•
In 2024 the R&D team saw a continuation of
the typical product development activities,
along with a ‘return to our roots’ in terms of
innovation and research.
•
Project Reset, which includes 14 variants,
is now in the validation and external
approvals phases.
•
The Ei6500 Combo project is in validation
in Shannon and in approvals testing with
Kriwan in Germany.
•
The Rev2 SmartLINK Gateway was
released to the market, with further work
ongoing to increase its capabilities.
•
The various strands of the TEC project are
coming together – the wearable pendant
is ready, the OKNOK alarm button is in
validation and HomeLINK are busy with the
user interfaces.
•
The RadioLINK2 RF protocol software is
developed, now we are starting to introduce
it into an extensive series of products &
modules, starting with the completely
redesigned Ei170 Deaf Alarm. The
Ei600MRF, Ei450 and Ei414 will follow
soon after.
•
The EiB3000 & ELV Mounting Plate for
Australia are well advanced, and the Radon
Sensor is at advanced prototype stage.
•
Renewed focus on new technologies and innovation.
•
A new Innovations Team was formed to ensure that
future-focused research and rapid development of
non-regulated devices could be resourced.
•
Working with suppliers to trial new future sensor
technologies that are available
o Air Quality Sensors
o Radon Sensors
o Pressure Sensors
o IR Sensors
•
We have partnered with external research centres to
broaden our reach and explore new and emerging
technologies:
o UL/Lero are studying the interaction between older
adults & technology to inform our TEC designs.
o Tyndall Research Centre (Cork) are working with us
to explore the applicability of the latest radar and IR
technologies.
•
It is important that we continue
to work closely with the local
Universities as they are the talent
pipeline for us into the future.
•
Continuing to grow our co-op
program with UL, 5 students in
2024.
•
Plan to take a minimum of 5 again
in 2025.
•
Also running summer internship
programs, Filip Swigon joined us
for the summer this year.
•
We are seeing positive results
– recent joiners Eoin Timlin,
Daniel Cocieru and Filip Swigon
(joining in summer 2025) all
came through this program.
•
Patenting activity, which has been quiet for
some time, has been re-invigorated, including a
Reward & Recognition program.
•
Applications filed for a number of new patents.
•
New RadioLINK2 protocol will make installation
of RF products easier for the user.
•
New smoke chamber from project reset and new
mains connector on the Easi-fit mounting plate.
•
New reflector system for near field measurement
of sound output.
