Cedar Grove Cemetery was founded
in 1800 by some of the early families
                                of Patchogue expressing their need

                                      for a community cemetery.
Situated on the banks of The Great

                                   Patchogue River, the cemetery
started out as a few acres of land for
burials. As the years passed and the

                                     community grew, so did the
cemetery. Parcels of land were either
purchased or donated to us to meet
our need to expand. Evidence of this

can be seen by the graves in the
cemetery that date back to the late
1700's, which shows that people had
their family members moved to here
from graves that were once situated
on their private property or from

                                            other cemeteries.
                                   Cedar Grove Cemetery became
                                   incorporated as a not-for-profit
cemetery in 1875 and is regulated by
The New York State Division of

                                               Cemeteries.
