• In an unexpected weather event, New York was hit by flash floods caused by remnants of Hurricane Ida, killing at
least 41 people overnight on September 2, 2021. Record-breaking rain was reported in the US East Coast, flooding

• Indian has the potential to contribute $500 billion in annual economic impact to the

• The United Arab Emirates, Uruguay and Bangladesh have been admitted as new
members of New Development Bank (NDB). The move comes as the bank looks to
expand its membership to boost growth. The bank was set up by five BRICS nations-
Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
