Career Pathways for Adults & Opportunity Youth
Alignment of Services & Best Practices for GED / Trade Certification
o Align programs to employer goals/needs
o Utilize shared community resources and standards that incorporate evidence-based best
practices
o Incorporate workforce goals as measures of programmatic success
o Create an awareness campaign for employers and residents about the need for increased
numbers with high school diplomas, GED or workforce or trade certification
o Develop a community wide volunteer recruitment effort to support accomplishment of
increased GED/Trade Certification
o Build upon Literacy Network participants and activities to support the development of
campaign
o Seek guidance from employers about existing and future staffing needs
o Partner with workforce development organizations about barriers to workforce
engagement for their service population
o Seek guidance from successful GED/Workforce certification recipients to determine best
methods for reaching and sustaining greater student participation
o Develop needs assessment for adult literacy volunteers within the county
o Develop recruitment tools for supporting adult literacy tutor growth within the county
Alignment of Services for Opportunity Youth
o Establish a connector service as a navigator (ReMix Genesee) o Increase resources and supports to “Navigation” services

 Communication  Marketing  Virtual/ physical space o Establish/ enhance a formal Opportunity Youth Collective Impact project
o Develop a virtual search/assessment tool across the spectrum of programs
o Align Opportunity Youth program criteria across agencies
o Establish community agreement (MOU) and involvement in creating a uniform intake
and assessment process
o Develop or adapt clear career pathways in collaboration between local partners that
align with local labor market – move to alignment of services Organizational mapping— define who does what, what are the service overlaps and gaps
