Collaborative Funding
o Determine criteria and responsibilities (i.e. writing, reporting, determining lead agency(ies), etc.)
o Conduct Funding Analysis: Identify current funding sources/streams to the providers in the Network
Priority: Providers with programs aligned with Community Plan to increase investment where possible
o Determine responsible party(ies) for acting as clearinghouse for identifying prospective grant opportunities and assembling teams for each proposal
Consider adding a position to Literacy Network –person to identify programs and
develop relationships and funding opportunities, i.e. manage collaborative funding process. Seek collaborative grant opportunity in alignment with Community Plan priorities
o Determine prospective Grant Selection Criteria and Process ensuring alignment to community priorities in Community Plan
Community Support
o Explore the possibility of forming a Lawyers for Literacy group with the Genesee County Bar Association
o Develop business mentoring program across all disciplines
o Connect to other community initiatives and networks
o Implement endorsement process to gain financial and in-kind support from the
community including local businesses
Local Funders Collaborative
o Partner with local and statewide foundations to discuss how their missions are linked to literacy
o Maximize impact of investment through alignment
o Leverage greater funding from state and federal funders o Build relationships with public and private funding entities
