                     (20mph, 30mph, 40mph, 50mph Speed limits and derestricted roads

Notice is hereby given that the Kent County Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 81, 82, 83
and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.The effect of the Order would be to reduce the 30mph speed
limit to a 20mph speed limit on the following length of roads in Newington, Sittingbourne:- See map
The scheme will be delivered and funded by KCC as part of the crash remedial programme.

The 20mph zone will be delivered alongside making Bull Lane one way and the installation of bollards/
barrier on High streetas a continuation to the existing barrier on the approach to the crossing to
alleviate vehicles mounting and parking on the footway to use the convenient store and post office

In 2018 the Parish Council and campaigners from the village,
called for the restricted speed limit. Campaigners also pointed
out that many of the pathways in Newington are very narrow
and there is no room to widen them, including those in School
        Lane and Church Lane.
