enough slack to clear the boats outboard motor or drive unit by about six
inches—plus additional line to form two eye splices. Begin the bridle by
burning each of the line’s two ends with a match (above) until the strands
have fused together.
2. Thread a pair of sister hooks onto one end of the line. Open up a
segment of line about 16 inches from the working end by grasping the
line about an inch on either side of the selected spot and squashing the
line together. At least one opening will appear between the woven braids.
Insert the working end into the line’s hollow interior (above); push three or
four inches of the end back inside the line.
