3. Now grasp the line just above the splice with one hand and below the

               splice with the other. Pull hard on the splice, as shown. Since
               polyethylene line stretches and attenuates slightly under tension, the grip
               of the strands surrounding the working end will tighten as tension
               increases. The harder the pull on the splice, the stronger it grows.





























               4. Thread onto the line a small lightweight block with a swiveling shackle.
               Then complete the project by attaching a pair of sister hooks at the other
