make a loop three to four inches long. Lay a strand of jute along the left
side of the loop and parallel with it, so that the strand’s bitter end points
toward the top of the loop. Starting near the throat of the loop, bind the
rope with jute, covering the bitter end of the jute as you go.
2. After binding the loop of the eye, continue wrapping jute around the
two strands of rope, seizing them together for an inch or so to secure the
throat of the eye. Leave a little slack in the last few turns so that you can
pass the working end of the jute up under them. Draw these final turns
tight around the working end, and cut off any excess jute.
