Ear & Eye Protecti on Signs

If you, as an employer cannot by any other means
reduce the noise levels, you must supply your
employees with the relevant hearing protecti on.

A building company fi rm has been fi ned for safety failings
aft er an employee suff ered permanent injury to his eye from
lack of correct protecti on.
A Magistrates’ Court heard how an employee in Northampton, was
injured when he was hit in the eye by a shard of metal when a work
colleague was operati ng a nail gun to fasten a piece of ti mber to a steel
lintel. The court also heard that the eye-protecti on being worn
by the nail gun operator, being lightweight ‘spectacle’ types
rather than impact absorbing ‘goggles’, were not adequate for
use with nail guns.
