Tamataipūnoa, although a warrior, was younger and
more handsome. He too was interested but did not
want to offend his older brother.
Tutāmure unaware of how he looked, walked away
ashamed and hurt by Tauheikurī’s refusal.
He came across a pool of water and on seeing his
reflection he realised how he looked. He then agreed
that she could marry his younger brother instead.
