A Peaceful Home

of the street. By paying attention to all of these words the husband My Notes
reinforces his standing as the authoritative head-of-the-family.

Chapter 5 - Lesson 7
Taking advice from a Rav great in Torah.
A husband does not lose his standing as the head-of-household
if he asks advice from a Rav who is great in Torah. In fact just
the opposite is true, it is the way of a Ben Torah to ask a Gadol
for advice. That has to be the atmosphere of the house – to seek
advice from a Rav who is great in Torah. On the other hand the
husband must be very careful not to go to his friends for advice
regarding problems arising in his family, whether they are medical
problems or something else, as taking family problems into the
street and exchanging information with friends shatters the privacy
of his family. So too he may not take his family problems to other
members of his family or her family. As we said above, if there is
a need to seek advice they must turn to a Rav who is great in Torah
and he will advise them or he will send them to someone who will
help them.
