Major Triumph for the Onshore
Journals PE Team
by Lisa Putnam, Team Leader, Wiley Onshore Journals, SPi US
Today I received a notification of a post on Wiley’s company-wide Yammer.
The post read: “A major triumph for the content management team working on
Annals of Neurology for getting the journal back on schedule to publish all issues in
FY19 and post the May issue online a bit early!” The post continued to specifically thank
the Production Editor, Donna Tarman, a member of SPi’s Wiley Onshore Journals team.
To provide some context to this compliment, and as the Senior Production Manager at
Wiley wrote, “Others have tried, but she succeeded!” This was a problematic journal on
many levels, but Donna’s vigilance and hard work brought it somewhere it hadn’t been
before: on schedule.
As exciting as it was to read this message, the accomplishments of the other PEs on
this team are equally noteworthy. Alverne Ball, Adam Bond, Katie Costello, Deborah
Doherty, Natalie Hamil, Erin Hernandez, Kristin Ruscetta, Marisa Taylor, and Lisa Wydrzynski
all deserve recognition and appreciation for their accomplishments over the last few
months. When we began working on this account 1 year ago, none of the journals that
were transferred to us were on schedule; they were transitioned from a production part-
ner that had recently filed for bankruptcy, and the journals were handed over to the PEs
with a “good luck and good bye.” They were left to piece together all of the intricacies
and minute details of these journals, while trying to get journal issues that were as much as
18 months delayed back on track. I am so proud to say that today, 95% of our journals
are either on or ahead of schedule, with the remaining gap continually closing. This could
not have happened without the incredible dedication, commitment, and perseverance
of each one of the above-mentioned PEs, as well as our partner PEs at SPi Chennai. The
way this team has come together to make the impossible possible is truly an inspiration,
and I am proud to work with each one of them.
