Who does the Chair Law Apply to?
Pursuant to article 132 of the Federal Labor Law, it does not apply to
government employees, nor to industrial positions that affect the health
of the worker. It applies to workers in the Service and Business sectors
such as restaurants, department stores, supermarkets, and offices. The
Reform added Article 133 Section XVIII where employers are prohibited
to require employees to stand on their feet during all their work schedule.
It has not yet become effective, it was voted February 20, but has not yet
passed. It was sent to the Labor and Social Welfare Commission and
then sent for discussion and vote to the plenary session. It has not yet
been implemented.
