and identity of the lost crowd.
3.Jesus was in absolute control of the events. Jesus along with
his followers made it through the streets of Jerusalem. The
dominant voice that once breathed over Jerusalem was now
filled with the cry of the ordinary class. Law and order of the
elite had no power over the cry of the displaced people. Jesus
was in absolute control of the events and nature. He was clearly
claiming authority as the Lord.
4.The cry ‘Save us now’ served as an empowerment facilitator. It
led to the cleansing of the temple and stood as a primary agent
for change and transformative work of being the full expression
of Christ. ‘Triumphal entry’ is transforming our human
consciousness into Christ consciousness. It is one of contrasts.
And those contrasts contain application to church. Who is
Christ for church? Does the cry ‘save us’ mean something to
church?
The conflicts for the poor and marginalized arise due
to their incompetence with injustice and their rage towards the
powerful who tries to oppress them. casteism, rich-poor divide,
rape and molestation, mob lynching, religious intolerance,
communal fascism, social media abuse, unemployment,
pollution and environmental issues, exploitation of farmers etc
are major issues faced by them. Known and unknown social
evils are lurking in the unexpected quarters of our church and
nation. The church as a ‘peace agent and servant of God’ and the
need to cry ‘Hosanna’ now to a God who liberates us in a more
positive light can reimage situations around them.
Prayer
Sovereign God, help us to recognise you as Lord and
king and submit ourself to yours reign. Challenge us to emulate
your humility for it is through humility that we will be lifted
high, Amen.
