who according to Mark 15.41 were present at the crucifixion.

Wellhausen opines that the given textual verses are
appended editorially to the passion narrative for a threefold
purpose. The women were the witness of the crucifixion, though
looking on far off of the burial (vs. 47) and of the empty tomb
        (16:1-6).Let’s contemplate on the Re-imaging Salome’s devotion
and demands in Encountering and experiencing the cross.

        Following Christ

Salome and other women were following Christ
throughout Jesus’ ministry. Salome one of the saintly women
who followed Jesus in Galilee and ministered unto him, appears
to have been one of his disciples from the outset of his public
ministry (Mat: 20: 20-28). Following Christ brings comfort
and reward beyond our comprehension. As Salome followed
Christ, fulfilled God’s will and lead a blessed life. How many
of us surrender our life to God, denying ourselves and follow
Christ to fulfill the will of God is the question that we need to
        ask ourselves.

        Passion for Christ

There were the friends of Jesus who loved him, just
standing by the cross and looking on at his crucifixion, unable
to do. They could do nothing to stop. All they could do was to
stand helplessly looking on from a distance with broken hearts.
Might is mistaken for right and the moral and spiritual judgment
and witness are beclouded. It is a tremendous thing when even
in helplessness men can say of triumphant evil. “This is utterly
wrong and no show of physical power can make it right. Defeat
on Calvary did not shake their faith in Jesus or their devotion
to him. The overwhelming might of evil have no effect on their
continuing loyalty. They were a small minority, completely
negligible among jeering crowd. They did not say: well this
