bond among the community members. Acceptance, assurance
and trust are the basic elements they seek from other fellow
beings. Jesus is not leaving out the Essene (queer) follower,
who was following Jesus from the distance. But He initiated a
new relationship which challenged the Jewish community, the
immediate followers of Christ could not even spot the Christ-
queer association during their ministerial journey. Distance and
cultural identities are not the barriers for the limitations and
barriers for Christ to initiate relationships. The question of trust
with the neighbor is also very much visible in this passage, as
we represent Christ in the secular world; the life style is to have
life with inter-dependence. The Essene (queer) is trusting Jesus,
and relationship begin to flourish and started growing. From
the elaborate discussion above it is inferred that, though they
are told as migrated citizens, they enjoyed all the royal privileges
to be part of the society. Both Jesus and the queer trusted each
other in this beautiful venture of the institution of the Supper.
Here we also experience the royal association of Herod and
Essene is not stopping the Jar bearer to open his upper room for
Jesus to initiate the act.
2. Christs' Table Prepared by a Queer?
Jesus is here answering to an important question of the
church today. Whether the church can accommodate the queer
community, share Lord’s Table, visit a queer family and even
institute Lord’s Supper at the premises of queer community.
The historical hints, while reading between the lines, well
articulating the secret meeting points of Jesus with the non-
Jews and the emergence of new vibrant relationships other
than the public space interactions. Queers in the social life are
marginalized from the privileges of the society and the better
job opportunities.
Currently the Indian church is reluctant to confront with this
reality to share the space for the so-called queer community in
the inner circles of the life of the church.
