Phantom Piano
by Emma Ganaj '23
In my castle on the
hill
As the storm raged on
outside me
I stay in the silence
of the ballroom
It is lit only with
candles
And the ethereal light
of the glass chandelier
It is ever so eerie
That is why I live here
To be a recluse
And a beautiful one at
that
I walk towards the
piano and played the
waltz that lay
ingrained in my memory
It turns like a
ballerina
It reaches its high
Quickly and slowly
In time with my heart
Ours
I wasn’t meant to love
you
And I’m happy you never
came back
After everything that
happened
Our high, quickly and
slowly, in time with my
heart
But this waltz and our
fleeting moments
Are too perfect to let
go
So, I play my phantom
piano
To remember the phantom
that is you
That was us.
