Moonlit Lake
by Emma Ganaj '23
The moon shines on my face
As I sit at the edge of the woods
Some people are afraid of the woods at nighttime
I’m not one of those people
I find comfort in seeing this beauty myself
I splash in the lake, soaking up the moon’s rays
Such awe-inspiring glory
It gives me life to be in this presence
I laugh
I return to my flickering campfire after being fulfilled by the moon
In that shimmering lake
I play my songs on the guitar
For myself and the moon
Because she deserves a serenade for guiding us all in the dark
As it rises and the tide moves
I feel grateful for this moment and for myself.
