Quote Reflection
Sarah Winning ‘24
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice
everywhere” said by Martin Luther King
Jr. means that even if there is injustice
in a small part of the country or a city,
there will be injustice everywhere. This is
because injustice spreads if people allow
it. Others cannot live with justice if
everyone cannot live the same way. If we
are not experiencing injustice within our
own lives, this does not mean that we
should not stand up and be activists for
people who do experience injustice. It is
our responsibility to defend the justice of
everyone. This is a right we all deserve.
We need to fight constantly for justice
for ALL, because when some of the world
lives with injustice, we all live that way.
This quote relates to the Civil Rights
Movement because Martin Luther King
Jr. and Rosa Parks fought for justice and
for all people to have the same rights.
During this time, African Americans
experienced serious injustices. The Civil
Rights Movement started in 1954 and
ended in 1968. This movement fought for
equal rights and justice for Black people.
This movement also fought for whites to
stop showing prejudice and acting with
violence towards People of Color. In his
famous I Have a Dream Speech, Martin
Luther King Jr. talked about how he
wanted his children to live in a country
where there was no prejudice, violence,
or racism against Black people. He also
talked about how he wanted the races to
be united. Martin Luther King, Rosa
Parks, and other African Americans
fought for justice for everyone.
