A Night at Oneiroport
by Kayley Dao '25
It was the 7th of August, and under the dynamic sky was a place called Oneiroport where dreams
thrive. And in Oneiroport by the pier was a pair of lovers holding each other here under the clear
starry sky, upholding a long promise to love until they die. They sat on a bench by the fence, facing
the horizon as the sun set to sleep. You find many couples here, down by the Oneiroport Pier, who
let doubts of their dears forever disappear.
Up near the shops is John’s Arcade where people of all ages come to game. The first thing you see
is the change machine and people loading in bills. They place plastic buckets under the shoots and
wait for the pails to fill. They navigate and weave through cabinets and lines to play VR, while
always keeping track of where their companions are. Shooter games, air hockey, basketball, Lazer
Maze… claw machines, pinball - whatever now is the craze. Music from every generation is always
on blast here at John’s Arcade, where memories last.
East a few feet is Susanna’s Candy Shop; one of the tourist’s favorite stops. To Susanna, you’re
always a friend, whether or not it’s her treats you recommend. Now our dear friend Sue’s Pop likes
to make fun lollipops. He works in a special room, working the candy-like glass, making translucent
animals and shapes en masse. Sue likes to wrap them with pretty ribbons and price them at 1:25
each. Her father, Mark, instead prefers that they’re sold in 10, just a dollar apiece. The best-seller
here is probably the sugar sticks since its nostalgia factor is a good marketing trick.
Though there are many other attractions here at Oneiroport Pier, I think the rides are the favorites
that everyone holds dear. And the best of the rides must be the Ferris Wheel, placed along the
northern side. Its carriages carry patrons up high and lets them watch the land, sea, and sky.
Our hearts are here at Oneiroport Pier, in the city where dreams and hopes always bloom here.
