Poem: Dust of Snow & Fire and Ice
th
Date: 4 October 2021
Activity: Visual representation of the poems
In the poem ‘Dust of Snow,’ the poet is standing under a hemlock tree and he’s in a sad mood.
A crow shakes down dust of snow on him which uplifts his mood. He wants to convey that
nature has curative powers and various aspects of nature (crow, hemlock tree) which we
consider as indicators of doom – aren’t so, it’s just our perception. ‘Fire and Ice’ is a symbolic
poem. ‘Fire’ stands for greed, desire, avarice and fury. 'Ice' stands for cruelty, intolerance,
insensitivity, indifference and hatred. The students created a visual representation of the
poem, in which they not only captured its essence but also showcased their creativity.
