                HUMANITARIAN SERVICES: COVID-19 PANDEMIC


         We took an oath when we became Lions and we remained true to our motto ‘WE SERVE’.  it is only fitting that we recognize those clubs that,
         despite the “Shelter in Place” order, they continued their service to humanity,  They proved that “Kindness Matters” and “Where There’s a Need,
         There’s is a 20-K1 Lion.

         This report is by no means an exhaustive record, but as the effects of this pandemic evolve, we will publicize our commitment to the causes of
         Lionism.  We salute these Lions for their dedicated service, in the face of risking their lives to help others.  I’d like to say 20-K1 ROCKS!





                     Clubs                                         Services Performed

         East Elmhurst Columbia                     Provided food for dozens of needy families from the community Another distribution is  scheduled
                                                                          for May.

         Queens Columbia Lions & Leos      Provided food to community residents, Distributed food and PPE Masks to E Elmhurst Hospital
                                      workers

         South Ozone Park / Empire City          Club with in-service and retired doctors volunteering invarious  positions according to their specialties
                Medical               and / or critical areas of need.  Special note. Dr. Rajamall worked extensive hours at Methodist
                                      Hospital.

         Queens Latinos Unidos                         Collection and distribution of food for 13 families in Corona

         Woodside Interamerican                        Donated food and personal hygiene items $200 donated by club member towards future feedings.
                                      ZC Soto sewed face masks and prepared package with masks and sanitizers for the homeless on the
                                      streets in  Queens.

         Queens Las Americas             Shipment of personal hygiene items to Dominican Republic. Partnered with Elmhurst Community and
                                      donated infant pampers and wipes to needy families in Corona

         St. Albans                                               Continued Signature project working with Hope Pantry Donated $200.00 to South Jamaica Houses
                                      Supplied groceries to needy family. Visited Nursing Home

         Rosedale                                Partnered with Congressman Meeks to provide virtual information re COVID-19 to residents in Rosedale
                                      and Springfield Gardens. Partnered with Rosedale Civic Assoc. to provide fresh fruits for residents in
                                      Rosedale.  Prepared food for the elderly in S.E. Queens.

         Laurelton                                              Continued monthly food distribution at the VfW POST in Queens.

         Brookville                                      Assisted elderly with shopping. Served meals at Allen AME Food Pantry

         Springfield Gardens                               Made phone calls to check in with seniors living alone. Participated in Food Distribution Program in  Far
                                      Rockaway.


         Central Brooklyn           1.   Served Pizza, Soda, and Water for 50 medical staff in The emergency section. at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

                                                2.    Served lunch sandwiches and soda at Maimonides Hospital  for 20 HR ( Human Resource) support staff.

                                3.   Served full meal for 20 staff at Methodist Hospital. Made phone calls to check on seniors living alone.

                                                4.    Provided garbage bags to dispose of soiled uniforms for Emergency Room staff.

                                                5.      Preparing and delivering home-made meals to home bound seniors during the closures due to the pandemic

                                               6.       Pick up and deliver groceries for 3 seniors,

                                               7.       Donated 4 bags of clothes,45 books, 10 Gallons of  Milk and  assorted  food staples to a shelter

                                               8.       Donated clothes to a men’s shelter. Picked up fresh fruits and vegetables from a pantry for 6 seniors

                              9.       Collaborated with a community based organization to conduct telephone solicitations  for donations  of masks from
                               construction companies.
