GLOBAL LEADERSHIP TEAM: A Distinctive GLT Conference
(Story and Photos by Lion Shirley Maddox, District E-News Reporter)
On Saturday, October 15, 2022, DG Ingrid Andrews - Campbell presided over
the District 20-K1 “in person” GAT Conference at St Therese of Lisieux
Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn. The continental breakfast featured an
“ice-breaker” with a prize for the first Lion / Leo to answer all the “Test
Your Knowledge About Lionism” questions. About 170 attendees were
randomly seated at color-coded U-shaped tables, in color-coded teams.
This format encouraged an “out of the box,” exciting, high energy,
interactive exchange of ideas. Each team had to collaborate to design a
“magazine cover story” that recounted a successful project with details that
included images, slogans, headlines and/or quotations. with a focus on one
of the Global Causes: Diabetes, Childhood Cancer, Environment, Hunger,
Vision, Youth, Humanitarianism and Disaster Relief. An engaged group of participants
Each team selected a captivating group name. Photos show samples of the
fascinating creations with focused text and supporting pictures, diagrams and
catchy tagline.
Everyone enjoyed and appreciated the refreshing “out of the box” learning
experience.
After GAT Conference, the Special Project Committee received donations of
items needed for Asylum Seekers coming to New York City.
The Chairperson, PCC Gloria Askew, (GLT Coordinator) and her committee
salutes all the attendees for their participation. As the event concluded,
each attendee was recognized with a Certificate of Participation.
