MANA celebrates Museum Day 2024 with a program for the public

            focused on Research and Education

            (Oranjestad)—The National Archaeological
Museum Aruba (MANA), along with some other
museums, will open its doors to celebrate Inter-
national Museum Day this Friday, May 18th. The
theme set by the International Council of Muse-
ums (ICOM) for International Museum Day 2024
            is Research and Education.

Research and Education are the two most im-
portant goals in MANA's mission. On this cele-
bration day, MANA will offer visitors an educa-
tional program based on research, and will also
officially launch its new website. The doors will
be open from 10 am to 2 pm, and a voluntary
            donation is requested for entry.

Under the name National Archaeological Mu-
seum Aruba (MANA), the new website will be
launched at 10:30 am in a festive manner in the
auditorium. The goal of the website is to inform,
educate, and provide better services to the
Aruban and international community. The infor-
mation provided by MANA to its users is based
on conducted research. The website offers up-
            dated information about MANA.

The theme of Research and Education will also
be realized in a lecture by archaeologist Ray-
mundo Dijkhoff. Its title is "Oruma: Beach, an ar-
chaeological perspective" and will take place
from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in MANA's auditorium.

For those who wish to enjoy snacks, a variety
of small dishes will be available. Among others,
there will be goat soup, tuna bread, Johnny
Cake with codfish or cheese, coffee, tea (bush
tea), juice, Upside Down cake, and vegan car-
            rot cake.

As is customary at MANA, there will be continu-
ous activities for children as well. So, parents
who wish to attend the presentations can do
so while their children enjoy themselves with
            hands-on activities.

Come and see all the new things in the exhi-
bition halls, listen to and exchange ideas with
            archaeologist Dijkhoff about research and
the development of the beach, and educate
yourself a little more about the history of our
            ancestors.q
