Aruba is a touristic island, we live for tourism, individual. Aruba offers many options to travelers, from time
but tomorrow is a special day. share to all inclusive hotels. But I strongly feel that what we

What would you like to share with our readers do here at Casa del Mar, is different. We recently celebrated
and what is Aruban tourism to you? a 45th work anniversary of one of my employees; she has

It’s common knowledge that tourism is the pillar of our been here from the beginning. She knows all our members,
economy. Many people underestimate what comes with their history and it’s fun that our members stop by every
working in tourism. Working in hospitality to me, is a complete year to greet her and have a little chat. It makes it so much
production. As an individual you must decide whether you more personal and rewarding to establish these exchanges,

are more of an in front or behind the curtain individual. in energy, knowledge and experiences. To me, that’s what
Both are equally important. The staff you don’t see walking hospitality is all about.
around, are working just as hard behind closed doors to
ensure everything is taken care of for you before you even

arrive and while you are inhouse with us. Hospitality isn’t
just about being visible to me, it’s about making sure that
it’s a seamless transition for guests to have the best time
of their lives with us and to make it memorable for them.

We’re all humans, everybody can have a bad day, but when
working in hospitality it is expected of you to leave that at
the doorstep when starting your shift.
If you work in hospitality this is really something to under-

stand and live by. We do not know what kind of day our
guests had prior to arriving, the trouble they went through
to get here, a delay in their flight, you name it. So, when
they arrive, it’s your job to make them feel as comfortable

and welcome as possible. It’s not always easy to do, but I
feel if you really love your job, if you love what you do and
are passionate about making people’s day better, it should
come naturally. Therefore, it’s important for everybody who

works or is thinking about working is hospitality to decide
whether you are more of an in front or in the back minded
