                        b.  Backgrounds and Effects
                                   Sometimes, we are tempted to show off our technical skills in designing
                             the slides by using backgrounds, sounds, moving texts, transition effects, and
                             so on. However, we must consider whether we really need them or not since
                             we  aim  at  simplicity  of  the  layout.  Slide  transition  and  additional  sound
                             effects are meaningless. Moreover, too much effect will be distracting for the
                             audience.  If  we  need  to  use  background  and  effect,  be  consistent  from  the
                             first to the last slide.

                        c.   Colors
                                   When designing a slide, we must consider which colors to use. Colors
                             can be divided into two general categories: cool (such as blue and green) and
                             warm (such as  orange  and red).  Cool colors  work best for backgrounds as
                             they  appear  to  recede  away  from  us  into  the  background.  Warm  colors
                             generally work best for objects in the foreground (such as text) because they
