Multiple Authors (Three to Seven Authors)

When citing a source with three to seven authors, you identify all the authors
when you first mention the work. Then, in subsequent references to them, you list

only the first author and follow it with phrase “et al.”.

                            First citation:

Hayes, Strosahl, and Wilson (1999) found … OR … (Hayes, Strosahl, &
                           Wilson, 1999).

                           Subsequent citation:

Hayes et al. (1999) discovered … OR … (Hayes et al., 1999).

               More than Seven Authors
If a work has more than seven authors, cite only the last name of the first

author followed by et al. each time you refer to this work.

               Groups as Authors

The names of groups that serve as authors (e.g., corporations, associations,
government agencies) and not widely known are usually written in full each time they

appear in a text citation. If the organization has a well-known abbreviation, include

the abbreviation in brackets the first time the source is cited and then use only the
abbreviation in later citations (e. g. UN for United Nation).
