4 Highlighting your work experience

The best way to highlight your work experience in CV is to try putting
yourself in the employer’s shoes. What do they need? How will you able to fulfill

it? To answer those questions, you may look at the requirements written in the

job vacancy ads. If those are not listed, you may contact the company for
getting more information about the job’s requirements or you may read the job

description carefully to get hints or clues about what the employer wants from
you. Remember! Work experiences you put here are only those paid ones. The

charity and volunteer work will be included in different section.

Now we are going to learn how to highlight your work experience. There
are several things you may not forget to put on your work experience section:

 Names of company that hired you

                    Location of each company
                    Positions you held

 The period of your position
 Brief description of your responsibilities

               Here is an example:
 Worked with the VVIP’s clients, served them and made them so happy.

 Worked as a guest relation officer in Grand Munich Hotel, Yogyakarta, one

of my responsibilities was working with clients to help them solving
problems with proactive voice and action words.

Based on the example above, you need to be accurate and highlight only the
relevant information related to the position you apply. Try to avoid wordiness

               and hyperbole.

Next, after you list all your work experience, you must create a unique
history section relevant to the applied position. You must arrange your work

experience chronologically. You must avoid major gaps in your work history.
Even, at that time unemployed, you can put volunteer work or community

                                                                                                          13
