4 Highlighting your work experience
The best way to highlight your work experience in CV is to try putting
yourself in the employer’s shoes. What do they need? How will you able to fulfill
it? To answer those questions, you may look at the requirements written in the
job vacancy ads. If those are not listed, you may contact the company for
getting more information about the job’s requirements or you may read the job
description carefully to get hints or clues about what the employer wants from
you. Remember! Work experiences you put here are only those paid ones. The
charity and volunteer work will be included in different section.
Now we are going to learn how to highlight your work experience. There
are several things you may not forget to put on your work experience section:
Names of company that hired you
Location of each company
Positions you held
The period of your position
Brief description of your responsibilities
Here is an example:
Worked with the VVIP’s clients, served them and made them so happy.
Worked as a guest relation officer in Grand Munich Hotel, Yogyakarta, one
of my responsibilities was working with clients to help them solving
problems with proactive voice and action words.
Based on the example above, you need to be accurate and highlight only the
relevant information related to the position you apply. Try to avoid wordiness
and hyperbole.
Next, after you list all your work experience, you must create a unique
history section relevant to the applied position. You must arrange your work
experience chronologically. You must avoid major gaps in your work history.
Even, at that time unemployed, you can put volunteer work or community
