ASIAN YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS
The indomitable spirit of young entrepreneurs in Asia has proven to be a force to be reckoned
with. Age is no longer a factor as these successful young individuals proved their mettle with
sheer will and determination.
Iman Usman (27) is currently the Co-Founder and Chief of
Product & Partnership of Ruangguru.com, an award winning
tech-enabled education provider in Indonesia - serving over 12
million students and workers across the nation. In the last one
year, Iman and his team has been able to build strategic
partnership with multiple stakeholders, including 32 provincial
governments, 326 cities/ regencies government; top players in
FMCGs, bankings, and telco; foreign embassies and international
organizations, among others. One of his most notable
collaboration is with LINE App - where together, they
successfully brought an alternative and innovative way of
learning - through LINE Academy - to over 3.8 million members,
only in 8 months.
Perhaps what is most inspiring is seeing some entrepreneurs
addressing the lack of inclusiveness in the region. Malaysia's
Amira Geneid decided it was time Muslim women had access to
a quality beauty products. Zahara caters to their specific
religious ritual needs and is halal-compliant. Her line of
cosmetics, which are free of alcohol and animal products, are
sold online in Singapore and Malaysia with plans to expand to
other majority Muslim markets like Indonesia and Dubai. "With
Muslims making up quarter of the world’s population, products
targeted for them shouldn't be a niche anymore -- especially
given the size of the beauty market these days," she says.
