                            INTONATION: Fall - Rise


                     Intonation is the melody of language and is made of pitches (high or low qualities of a sound) that rise

                    and fall. Intonation is used to communicate our intentions and emotions, and it is used in spoken

                     language to replace punctuation.
                      1.  Falling intonation means our voice goes down at the end of sentence. It happens in:
                            Statements

                                  Shane is going to Sri Lanka for his summer vacation.

                                  He decides that he will only visit the beaches.

                            Information questions (like where, when, what, why, how, and who)

                                  What are you going to do in Nepal?

                                  How long will she stay in Canada?
                      2.  Rising intonation means our voice goes up at the end of sentence. It happens in yes/no questions.


                                  Are you going to go skiing?


                                  Will Shane visit Arugam Bay?
