                           Preface

Competition among job seekers is fierce and shows no signs of diminishing. Companies are no
longer solely interested in the academic achievements of their candidates. Instead, they seek individuals
whose competencies guarantee excellent performance in specific job roles. One such guarantee is
provided through the Competency Test and Certification conducted by BNSP (Badan Nasional Sertifikasi
Profesi), a national certification body that ensures the authenticity of a certificate holder's professional
skills. This module has been created in response to this demand.

This module is designed for use in conjunction with an ESP class at LTC. Its primary objective is to
provide comprehensive training in the application of English for the specific role of Executive
Administrative Assistant. To achieve the excellent competencies outlined in this module, such as
Intermediate Communication Strategy, Writing Summaries and Reports, Post-intermediate Business
Correspondence, Negotiation Skills, and Public Relations, learners are required to have completed Free
Conversation and Public Speaking courses at LTC. Upon completion of this course, learners will possess
the skills and strategies needed to succeed in the national Competency Test and Certification for English
for Executive Administrative Assistance conducted by BNSP.

Additionally, another purpose of this book is to serve as a guiding material for workshops
preparing for the professional competence assessment under the Executive Administrative Assistant
scheme. This dual-purpose approach ensures that learners are well-equipped not only for certification but
also for practical, professional competence in their roles.

Lastly, this module would not have been possible without the authority and supervision of the
Language Training Centre (LTC) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. It has been a great honor and
a valuable learning process for us, and for that, we highly appreciate the opportunity given. We would
also like to acknowledge all scholars, websites, and other contributors whose works are cited and adapted
in this module. Without the influence of these materials, this module would never have been completed.
