Scenario 1
Emma, 20, has bipolar, so she experiences hypomania. She is experiencing manic symptoms, “it feels
like you are high on life, like nothing can touch you. Nothing bursts your bubble. You don’t need
sleep. You might not even need to eat. It’s like living life at hyper-speed,” she says. Her worst
hypomanic episode was when she only got three hours of sleep in a week, but she felt euphoric.
Scenario 2
Mike, 30, has depression. He said that he do not like thing that he love previosly, such as playing
football. He was really fond of football, he used to play three times a week. However, now, he really
lose interest in playing football. He also said that he started to feel like he do not need to eat and just
need to sleep. Therefore, he have difficulty keeping up with work and family responsibilities.
Scenario 3
Matthew, 17, has schizophrenia, he said that he started having hallucinations, he said that he could
hear many noises in his head. He also descirbed when he looked at the world around him, it was like
he was watching TV, he felt that he was totally cut off. Recently, he could not speak for weeks. It was
like his voice got swallowed deep down inside.
