Language Focus: Future Tense with will

After listening two different recordings, you may realize that there is a tenses
pattern applied to write the goals and outcomes or planning. You need to use the future tense.

                     Future tense with will
To state about immediate decision or predicting something in remote future
                     Pattern: will + V1
                     Example:
                        • The Pt will maintain dietary changes to help manage blood pressure.
                        • The Pt will not maintain dietary changes to help manage blood pressure
                        • Will the Pt maintain dietary changes to help manage blood pressure?

The tenses pattern is combined with behavioral verbs to set the patient’s goal. Here is the example of the
               behavioral verbs.
                   • Calculate • Describe • List • Recite
                   • Classify • Discuss • Maintain • Record
                   • Compare • Distinguish • Name • Stand
                   • Construct • Draw • Participate • State
                   • Contrast • Explain • Perform • Use
                   • Define • Express • Practice • Verbalize
