is the gain of electrons by a substance during a chemical reacon. The substance
which donates these electrons is called the reducing agent.

            ATP STRUCTURE AND PRODUCTION
Adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, is the energy currency of cells. A cell
uses ATP to perform almost all of its acvies, including synthesizing proteins,
transporng ions across the cell membranes, and causing organelles and cilia to
move. Cells use the readily available energy supplied by ATP to power its acvies
            wherever it is needed.
