Additional risks to consider
• Can the task be done safely whilst working alone
If the answer is no contact supervisor
• Is there adequate mobile phone coverage in the area
If coverage is inadequate ensure that you are equipped with a GPS messenger.

Lone Work in an area with suitable mobile coverage.

Ensure that communication methods are maintained, serviceable and adequate.
Ensure that management are aware of the general area (grid section) that lone work is to be undertaken. via approved methods.
Check in and sign off with supervisor daily via phone call or text and note times on DSRA.

Lone Work in an area with no mobile coverage
Ensure that an approved method of GPS messenger/ tracker is utilised.
• Ensure that the GPS messenger is fully functional before entering the isolated area, and you have spare AAA batteries.
• Ensure that the GPS Messenger has a GPS signal (the GPS light is green)
• When starting work ensure that the check in button is depressed and the device is sending the message (the message sending light and GPS light will blink green for 15 seconds).
• Ensure that the track progress button is depressed at the start of day as this will send updates of your location.
• When entering or exiting no mobile coverage areas use custom message to communicate
