to drink – then locked the door to the room. George Colley remained
for a time in the lobby. Soon soldiers burst in and took all foreigners
in an army truck. The soldiers were very nervous and upset and there
began to be riots in the streets. When the truck arrived at an army post,
the foreigners were instructed to get out and walk into the building.
The mob began assaulting the foreigners during the short walk. George
Colley was knocked down and his body was never found. Those who
made it through the crowd to the army post survived. Back in the hotel,
the soldiers rapped on all the doors seeking to bring out any foreigners.
The Killians remained entirely quiet, the soldiers did not break down the
door, and they were left unharmed.

We eventually learned that a division of the Iraqi Army was be-
ing sent to Western Iraq. When they came through Baghdad, they start-
ed a military coup. The young king of Iraq was killed, as were members
of his household. The premier of Iraq was a wise old man named Nuri
al Said. Nuri al Said had an Iraqi father and a Turkish mother, from
whom he inherited blue-gray eyes. All pure-blood Arabs have brown
eyes. When the news reached him of the military coup, Nuri al Said at-
tempted to escape by dressing as a woman. Unfortunately, his blue eyes
were recognized and he was shot to death, and after burial, his corpse
was disinterred and literally chopped to pieces by a mob.

After a couple days, the Army had restored order and the Killians

was that Arab mobs can become violent quickly. In addition, Arab peo-
ple are uniquely stirred by violent speakers. The speaker need not be
particularly intelligent or educated, but Arab people can be moved to
